平成30年度前期・後期「英語」
１．自主学習時間を確保するための工夫や改善策
○予想していたよりも学生の自主学習時間が少ないことがアンケートから判明したため、
その量を増やすことを検討したい。
○週平均の自主学習時間が少ないと思う。学生が教科書の予習・復習や英語学習にもっ
と時間をかけられるように、課題やテスト等をもう少し工夫したい。
○In order to increase the amount of self-study in the course I have introduced
many more written assignments, such as unit summaries requiring careful thought
and some research and supplemental readings with comprehension questions.
In addition, I have brought in supplemental video sourced from the Internet that
students can study further at home to improve their understanding. Hopefully this
has increased the amount of study they are doing outside of class.
○学生の書いたエッセイを、クラス全員が見てコメントできるようなシステムにできな
いか検討したい。そうすることで、学生の動機づけを高め、全員がエッセイ作成に積
極的に取り組めるようにできればと考える。
○Most students spent one hour per week on average on homework, but a few seem to have
spent a lot more and are unhappy about this. In future EIV classes, I would like to allow
students to start working on their assignments in class, so that I can find the students who
need extra help.
２．授業改善に向けての試みや工夫
○英語ⅠBのwritingの課題提出に関してはmanabaを通しての提出が効果的であるよう
に感じた。今後は英語ⅠAに関しても、授業中の小テスト以外の方法として、manaba
での何か取り組みができればと考えている。
○今年度より、一部の教材選びや授業内の活動の選択に、学生の意思を反映させるよう
になった。受講生の意欲を高める試みとして、これを継続したい。
○I plan to introduce more written assignments to complement the reading focus of the course.
These will include unit summaries requiring careful reflection and demonstration of
vocabulary knowledge, as well as some research type assignments to encourage students
to do their own thinking. While the comments from students were only positive, they also
mentioned how easy they found it. I hope to challenge them a little more in the coming year.
○There seems to be students who wanted explanation of homework assignments in perfect
Japanese. On this, I agree. I typically explain the requirements in advanced English, repeat
it in graded English, and finish with an explanation in Japanese. This year, I have been writing
the requirements out in English on the board, the contents of which students photograph with
their smartphones. This may be a solution to the problem.
○英語IIBはグループワークに対して、きめ細かな指導（修正・手直しなど）ができなかったので、
この点は改善していきたいと考えている。
○予習のときに生じる疑問点、問題点、確認点、関連する情報の提供等、を箇条書き程
度にノートしてくることを課しているが、それらにすべて授業中に応答することが不
十分と思われる時が少なくない。それを補うべく、manabaを有効活用したい。当該授
業時間の補足・補充（追加の課題や新たな宿題を含む）として情報発信していきたい。
ゲームなどを取り入れた活動や、読んだ記事をグループ内でシェアして話す活動が好
評だったので来年も継続したい。
○グループ学習やポイント制を取り入れ、アンケートの結果からは、それなりに機能し
たと判断した。この方法をもっと工夫して取り入れたい。
○Most students seem to have enjoyed reading English books, so I will continue to assign
graded readers (reading for fun) for homework and will make sure that the students
understand the value of classroom interaction.
３．授業改善についての意見、提案、要望等
○「文法の間違いなども学べるとよい」という意見があるが、学生の書いたものに共通
して見られた文法の間違いは、次回の授業で指導するようには心がけた。文法よりは、
文章全体の構成や文章の論理的展開、トピックセンテンスやサポーテイングセンテン
ス、パラグラフ等に重きを置いて指導した。英語IBの各クラスで学生が書いた文章を、
他のクラスでも見られるようなシステムが学内にできれば、同じ科目で学ぶ学生にと
っていい刺激となるかもしれない。
