Kagoshima University's measures against the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
 
For students
 
Following the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), this infection has been designated as “designated infectious disease” by a Cabinet Order. Since it is now considered a Class I infectious disease as stipulated by the School Health and Safety Act, it is “an infectious disease to be prevented at school”. 
This university will take the following actions:
 
1. If you contract the disease:
If a medical institution diagnoses a student COVID-19 (including cases where the infection is diagnosed as a "suspected case"), the attendance will be suspended.
The attendance suspension period will be set until "full recovery / healed", and when resuming school, a medical certificate, etc. from a medical institution that certifies ‘complete recovery / completely healed’, and does not have any hindrance to attend school shall be submitted to the faculty / graduate school's academic affairs (student) or graduate school staff.
 
* “Suspected cases” refer to cases where a doctor has diagnosed that you are suspected to be suffering from symptoms such as fever.
 
2. If there a possibility that you may have contracted the disease:
① If you have one or both of the following symptoms, consult the Returnees and Contact Center.
・ If you have symptoms of a cold or fever of 37.5 °C or higher which lasts for 4 days or more. (Including when you need to keep taking fever medicine / antipyretics).
・ If you have strong fatigue (malaise) or breathlessness (dyspnea).
 
② If there is a possibility that you have come into ‘close contact’ with an infected person /carrier, please call the Academic Affairs (Student) Section or Graduate School Section of your faculty or graduate school, and if it is determined that you have had close contact with an infected person, please wait at home for 14 days from the date of contact. If you experience any of the above symptoms while waiting, immediately consult the Returnees and Contact Center.
 
* “Close contact” refers to a person who: ①lives with a person suspected of having COVID-19 or has had long-term contact (including in a vehicle or on an aircraft. ② A person who has examined, nursed or cared for a patient without wearing appropriate infection protection. ③comes into contact with a person suspected of having COVID-19 at a distance (approximately 2 meters) that could be touched or talked face-to-face with no necessary infection precautionary measures. 
 
3. Reporting that you may have been infected or have had ‘concentrated close contact’:
If you have contracted the COVID-19, please use the ‘Infectious Disease Application Web System’ on the website of Kagoshima University’s Health Service Center fill in the application form. If you find it difficult to apply using the system, please report to the Faculty / Graduate's Academic Affairs (Student) Section or the Graduate School Section by phone or e-mail.
 
If there is a possibility that you have had a ‘close contact’, please contact the Faculty / Graduate's Academic Affairs (Student) Section or the Graduate School Section to ask for a decision, and then apply using the infectious disease application web system. If you find it difficult to apply using the system, please report to he Faculty / Graduate's Academic Affairs (Student) Section or the Graduate School Section by phone or e-mail.
 
4. Handling classes that were absent due to suspension of attendance or waiting at home
For classes that you missed due to suspension of attendance or standing-by at home, we will take alternative measures such as reports and additional examinations, and take everything into consideration so as not to be disadvantage students. Please contact the teacher in charge of your class when you resume school.
